Hey guys and welcome to my blog and brand Hannahlane. I wanted to write my first blog post as an introductory post to share more about myself and my goals for this website. As I have mentioned, I am a college student at UMass Amherst where I study marketing. In addition to school I am a member of the field hockey team. I absolutely love it and have been playing field hockey for as long as I can remember. Outside of school and sports, I work at Elizabeth Ann’s Bridal and Prom as a sales associate where I help customers find the dress of their dreams. The job itself is a dream for me being surrounded by glitter and ball gowns all day long. (Don’t get me started on Sherri Hill or what’s in style for prom 2022- I may never shut up!) Nauset Beach and the gym are my two favorite places to be. I cannot survive without my iced coffee or music (ESPECIALLY Taylor Swift).
One thing in my life that I have been struggling to maintain a balance with has been my self care. It seems so simple- go for a run, do a face mask, or take a nap. Aren’t we always taking time for ourselves? I have always struggled with anxiety and I sometimes had a habit of allowing it to consume me. When I started my first semester of college I was overwhelmed between a rigorous field hockey schedule, finally having in person classes (as much as I complained about Zoom- it saved lots of getting ready time), making new friends, and adjusting to a new environment. It was a huge transition period where I think many people tend to lose themselves. During this change I fell out of lots of my self care habits to the point where I think I had been running myself down to my final percent. I couldn’t tell you the last time I read a book for joy or took a moment just to relax.
Self care is the one thing we should never neglect. Although it seems so miniscule and easy, we take for granted the benefits we reap from treating our bodies, minds, and souls properly. Did you know you have to care for all three individually? Well, you do now. I am here to share my self care journey, but also to inspire you to embark on your own journey of creating healthier wellness in your daily life step by step. Growth is a wonderful and beautiful process that isn’t always linear. Let’s grow together. 🙂
Xoxo,
Hannahlane
