1989 (Taylor’s Version) Rankings

I love how nostalgic all the re-recordings are! It feels like going back into that era when that album first came out. 1989 reminds me of 2014 and being in sixth grade and absolutely loving Taylor Swift, making Instagram beauty videos, Bethany Mota YouTube videos, and oreo coollattas. I LOVED the re-recordings and really had to take a few days to develop my 1989 (Taylor’s Version) rankings!

  1. Is It Over Now

Like wow. SPEECHLESS. Respectfully, she dragged Harry. “Red blood, white snow. Blue dress on a boat. Your new girl is my clone.” UNREAL. I was not expecting Harry to be All Too Well-ed or Would’ve Could’ve Should’ve, but I’m living for it.

  1. Wonderland
  2. You Are In Love

This has always been one of my favorite Taylor songs. She sums up the way being in love feels and how it encapsulates your whole body and being. “You can hear it in the silence. You can feel it on the way home.”

  1. Style
  2. Blank Space
  3. Wildest Dreams
  4. I Know Places

Hannah, Lilly, and I were screaming this in the car on Friday afternoon with the windows down and I think that’s the closest thing to free therapy. This album was meant to be enjoyed with the windows down and summery warmer weather.

  1. Clean
  2. This Love

I remember the day this re-recording came out in May 2022. I was convinced that 1989 (Taylor’s Version) was coming that summer.

  1. Out Of The Woods

This song is so descriptive to me. I feel like I can see the entire thing play out like a short film in my mind.

  1. New Romantics
  2. How You Get The Girl
  3. I Wish You Would
  4. All You Had To Do Was Stay
  5. Slut!
  6. Shake It Off
  7. Now That We Don’t Talk

To be completely fair, I haven’t listened to the vault songs besides Is It Over Now and Slut! enough. I think after a week of listening to the new songs more, they will end up ranking higher.

  1. Say Don’t Go
  2. Suburban Legends
  3. Welcome to New York
  4. Bad Blood

Overall I loved the re-recordings!! I know a lot of people didn’t love some of the changes made, especially in Style, but I still love it! I will be listening to this album on repeat for the next two weeks until I start blasting Christmas music.

Xoxo,

Hannahlane
